Description
Cathayornis is an extinct genus of enantiornithes (early birds) of the early cretaceous.
Type species: Cathayornis yandica (Zhou, Jin & Zhang, 1995). Other species: C. caudatus. fossils have been found in Early Cretaceous sediment layers located in northern China. It is a small perching bird with a toothed beak. This genus is very similar to that of Sinornis (Chatterjee 1999).
